Category Tree

The Categories page displays your product categories as a hierarchical tree. You can create, rename, reorder and delete categories. You can also assign products to them.

Before you begin​

  • You need the Product role to view the category tree.
  • Creating and deleting categories requires Owner access on the Product role.
  • Renaming, reordering and adding products requires non-viewer access.

View the category tree​

Navigate to PIM > Categories to open the tree view. Each category shows an expand/collapse toggle (if it has children), a folder icon and the category name. Click the pencil icon next to a category name to select it and reveal its action icons.

Use category actions​

Click a category row to select it and reveal five action icons:

View products in a category​

  1. Select a category row and click the Show products icon.
  2. A slide-over panel opens listing all products and clusters in that category.
  3. Use the product filters on the left sidebar to narrow the list.
  4. Click a product to open its detail page.

Create a subcategory​

  1. Select a category row and click the Add folder icon.
  2. A new child row appears with an inline text input.
  3. Type the subcategory name.
  4. Click the checkmark to save, or X to cancel.

Rename a category​

  1. Click the pencil icon next to a category name.
  2. Type the new name in the inline text field.
  3. Click the checkmark to save, or X to cancel.

Reorder categories​

Drag and drop categories to reorder them within the same level, or move them under a different parent category.

Add products to a category​

  1. Select a category row and click the Add products icon.
  2. A product picker dialog opens.
  3. Select the products and clusters you want to add, then confirm.
  4. The selected items are linked to the category.

Edit category details​

Click the Edit folder icon on a category row to open the category detail page. The detail page has two tabs: General and Attributes.

On the General tab, a right sidebar provides quick navigation to the Overview, Description, Properties and Metadata sections.

The Overview section contains the following fields:

HiddenToggle to hide the category from the storefront

The Description section contains rich text editors for the short description and full description, both with language selection.

Delete a category​

  1. Select a category row and click the Delete folder icon.
  2. Confirm the deletion in the dialog.
